BASIC INFORMATION



Kefalonia is one of the Ionian islands and is the largest one. Located between Lefkada and Zakynthos, in an area of ​​781 sq.km. has a population of about 35,000 residents. Capital of Kefalonia is Argostoli with 9,000 inhabitants. Other major cities of Kefalonia is Lixouri, Poros, Sami and Skala.
The Ionian is known for its beautiful beaches and Kefalonia is not an exception. Her beaches are known for crystal clear waters, the most famous of all, Myrtos, is considered not unfairly as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. According to the annual vote, Myrtos was voted eleven times the best Greek sea.

TRANSPORTATION


BY SEA
In Kefalonia you can go by ferry from various ports. Linked with Patra, Killini and Astakos and Ithaca, Zakynthos and Lefkada. Starting from Athens you can take bus or car to go to Patra (about 2.5 hours) or Killini (about 3.5 hours). Then from these two ports you can take ferry boat to get to the island of Kefalonia. The routes are daily and very often during the summer months. From the port of Patra you will reach the port of Sami, after 3.5 hours and from the port of Kyllini will reach the port of Poros, after 1.5 hour. Finally, from the Astakos of Aitoloakarnania there is ferry to Sami Kefalonia and the trip takes 2.5 hours. Click here for ferry tickets


BY AIR
The International Airport of Kefalonia (airport code: EFL) lies between Lassi and Mini, just 8 km. south of Argostoli. The transfer to and from the airport can be done by taxi, car or bus launched for this purpose.
